Dark wood cabinets and light sand tones glass tile backsplash

Dark wood cabinet doors contrast with a very glossy light-colored glass tile backsplash that extends all the way up to the ceiling behind the chimney-style range hood.

Black Glass Cabinet Doors with Mosaic Tile Kitchen

The unusual feature of this kitchen is the black glass doors on the wall cabinets. These are combined with white base cabinets (an unusual combo, as most people using two cabinet colors put the darker color on the base and lighter color on the uppers), white and black appliances, and a delicious glass mosaic backsplash of white with multicolored single tiles scattered across the field.

All-White IKEA Model Kitchen with Domsjo double sink

The standout in this kitchen is the Domsjo double farmhouse sink (which is a real steal compared to the prices of most farmhouse-style or apron sinks like this). The doors with their almost prairie-style mullions are very attractive too, and the whole effect is very warm for an all-white kitchen.

Wood cabinets, white appliances, and pops of bright color in this IKEA model kitchen

With the understated wood cabinets and the expanse of white appliances and counter, this kitchen would be blah without the pops of color from the bright circular placemats.

Flip-up IKEA Wall Cabinets, Brown Tile Backsplash

The thing I like most here is the open counter workspace between sink and cooktop, perfect for prepping fresh food and taking it straight to the pan. Not so keen on the brown tile backsplash.

The wall cabinets open upwards instead of outwards like regular cabinet doors, which has its pros and cons. The upper cabinets look more useful to tall people than short ones! The best kitchen cabinets fit your size as well as looking good.

Bright Red Glossy Cabinets

The thing that saves this design from being dark is the lighting. Shades of grey in the glass tile backsplash, grey counter, and dark red (but super shiny!) cabinet doors are all on the dark side, but bright under-cabinet lighting plus lighting in the translucent-door wall cabinets brighten everything up.

Gloss White Subway Tile Backsplash

Even with the dark wood cabinets, the light counter top and glossy white subway tile backsplash make this kitchen feel bright and open.

IKEA kitchen cabinets: stainless steel/warm wood

Cabinets with deep stainless steel faced drawers, and warm wood cabinet doors.

Note the roll-up tambour door all the way down to the counter. If you must have doors to the counter, this is a better way to go than regular outward-opening doors, as you can open the door without sweeping everything in front of it off the counter.
